South Shore Elder Services is committed to promoting and maintaining the independence of all elders in our communities, and we will work to assist every caller. When you call South Shore Elder Services you are quickly handed to one of our well trained and experienced staff members who will help you with your particular needs, and they will be able to provide you with answers to your questions, along with the support and guidance you need to make the decisions that are right for you.

Community Outreach

South Shore Elder Services works closely with many local partners in the community including; all 11 local Councils on Aging, various healthcare providers, faith-based organizations, local charities and local police and fire departments. Through these local relationships, South Shore Elder Services has access to a multitude of different resources with which to assist our consumers.

#SSES Honors Veterans

South Shore Elder Services maintains an excellent relationship with all local VSOs and the local VA hospitals. South Shore Elder Services hosts a number of veteran-focused events throughout the year & SSES is a regular contributor to local veteran-focused newspapers and magazines.

Meals on Wheels staff

Meals on Wheels

The Meals on Wheels program is designed for anyone in our 11 South Shore community towns that are over 60 years of age, home-bound, and in need of a Nutritious meal.

Our trained volunteer drivers always deliver in  a caring and compassionate manner, delivering meals with a smile. The meals are delivered Monday through Friday. The meals meet the one-third Nutritional requirements and designed to be low in sodium, fat and sugar.

SSES also offers hot meals served at central dining locations throughout the South Shore for those who are able to travel to give them an opportunity to enjoy a nutritious meal and socialize.

Cohasset Cares

SSES & Braintree Fire Department join forces

When the Chief of the Cohasset Fire Department asked Captain Rob Forde in October 2014 if he wanted to manage a grant the department had just received, he could never have imagined the life it would take on. The grant, a $2000 Senior SAFE Grant from the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services, serves to install or replace things such as smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors to help keep seniors safe in their homes. This was how Cohasset Cares was born.

There is a generation of aging seniors who, having been faced with intense homophobia and discrimination throughout their lives, are now in the position of needing access to services as they age. Setting up services for a loved one is hard for anyone, the prospect of letting a stranger into either your own or a loved one’s home naturally provokes feelings of being unsettled or uncomfortable. Memorial Day

I’ve stood in silent prayer at the Atomic Dome in Hiroshima and at Pointe Du Hoc on the shores of Normandy and tried to read every name I could of the brave soldiers buried at the American Cemetery there. Cry Afterwards, I always tell myself. Not now, don’t let tears escape in front of anyone.
