Congregate Housing is a shared living environment for people who find it difficult to live alone, enjoy the security of living with others and have the social and physical capacity to live independently.
Congregate living is not an alternative to a nursing facility and has no formal 24-hour supervision. In a Congregate Housing living situation, residents actively support and assist each other. Eligible applicants are seniors over 60 years of age or disabled individuals who met applicable criteria and are receptive to a Congregate Housing arrangement. South Shore Elder Services coordinates services for sites in Braintree and Hingham.
