What is the Special Needs Fund?  The Special Needs Fund was established by South Shore Elder Services, Inc. (SSES) in 2003 to help frail elders in our communities who do not have the everyday necessities of life, such as food, clothing, shoes, fuel, medicine and shelter.

What kind of help does the Special Needs Fund provide?Over the past years our Special Needs Funds has been used to purchase tub seats and grab bars to make bathing easier and safer, food for elders whose expenses exceed their income, medicines that is unaffordable but a necessity for treatment, fuel for elders who had no heat, moving expenses to better living situations, furniture for elders who had been homeless and much, much more.

Does all money collected for the Special Needs Fund go to it?

All monies collected for the SSES Special Needs Fund go directly to the purchase of goods and services.  Our goal is to make sure that elders in our communities live safely and with dignity.

Why should I donate to the Special Needs Fund?

While Federal and State government funds cover a substantial portion of the services SSES provides within our service area, many elders needs go unmet. Only with the generous support from our friends in the community are we able to fully meet our mission of helping older adults live independently for as long as possible.

We have been able to raise money for the Special Needs Fund through individual and corporate donors, however, each year the request for this type of assistance increases.
